Climate Cafe

Climate Café is a gathering where Teens and Young Adults can share their thoughts and feelings about the climate crisis. If you experience anxiety, grief, fear, sadness, anger, or hopelessness about our changing climate, loss of species, rising sea levels, extreme weather; you are not alone! These feeling have a name. They are called Eco-anxiety and Eco-grief. And they are very real and one of the best ways to work through them is to talk about them in community. We invite you to join with others who are feeling the same way.

Beginning February 4, 2025, we will gather on Tuesday Evenings from 6:30pm – 8:00pm at the United Methodist Church in Wayne, 99 Parish Drive, Wayne, NJ 07470. Please use the accessible entrance closest to LeGrande Terr.  Light refreshments will be provided. Our conversation facilitator is Pastor Ninabeth Metcalf. We will always have two adults accompanying us. Their role is to listen and build trust.

  • This gathering is not a teaching, therapy, or action-oriented group, rather, it is a safe space to experience, honor, and share your feelings about the climate crisis.
  • You do not have to be a “United Methodist” to attend. We welcome people of all faith or no religious faith backgrounds. The climate crisis affects everyone regardless of their Spiritual beliefs. We are all in this together.
  • We value curiosity, honesty, deep listening, trust, compassion, IDK, IMHO, ILY, and ROFL.
  • During our time together smartphones, smart tablets, and social media posting is not permitted. You are welcome to use your devices before or after. We have found that being fully present to each other is super important.
